A decentralised social media network called Mask Network (MASK) seeks to provide users more control over their online privacy and data, allowing them to publish information and communicate with others in a safe and private way.
A group of blockchain and IT industry professionals, including Suji Yan, a former Microsoft engineer, and Xavier Wu, a former product manager at Facebook, created Mask Network in 2018. The platform is constructed on top of the Ethereum blockchain and makes use of smart contracts to allow for decentralised and secure communication.
The Mask Network use case is that it enables users to connect with a number of well-known social media sites, such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, while still maintaining complete control over their data and content. Users of the site can share encrypted files, send encrypted direct chats, and post encrypted messages and comments while still protecting their privacy and security.
Mask Network offers a variety of tools for content producers in addition to privacy-focused features. These capabilities include the ability to monetise content through tips and donations as well as the creation and sale of digital art and other kinds of digital assets.
