What is Meteora (MET)?

Meteora (MET) is the native governance and utility token of Meteora, a leading liquidity protocol on Solana. MET is used to govern the protocol, vote on liquidity strategies, and incentivise liquidity providers across Meteora's range of dynamic liquidity products.

The History of Meteora

Meteora launched in 2023 as a Solana-native liquidity protocol building on the team's earlier work with Mercurial Finance. The project has rolled out a series of liquidity infrastructure products including Dynamic Liquidity Market Maker (DLMM) pools, Dynamic Vaults, and Dynamic AMM. The MET token launched via airdrop on 23 October 2025, distributed to liquidity providers, early users, and the Solana DeFi community.

The Use Case of Meteora

The primary use case for MET is to govern Meteora and direct the protocol's liquidity incentives. Holders vote on emissions, new pool types, partnerships, and treasury management.

Meteora is one of the largest liquidity venues on Solana, supporting many of the network's largest tokens and stablecoin pairs. MET is intended to align liquidity providers, traders, and protocol developers by capturing value as Meteora's share of Solana DEX volume and total value locked grows.
