What is Gravity (G)?

Gravity (G) is the native utility token of the the Gravity blockchain, developed in conjunction with the Galxe ecosystem. Gravity is designed as an omnichain smart contract platform (Layer-1) that abstracts cross-chain complexity, enabling seamless interoperability, high throughput, and low latency for decentralized applications. Within this setup, G acts as the gas token (for transactions and contract calls), and also supports staking, governance, payments, and incentive mechanisms across both Gravity and Galxe.

The History of Gravity (G)

Gravity was created as part of the Galxe network’s long-term expansion into Layer-1 blockchain infrastructure. In 2024, the Galxe DAO approved proposals GP-25 and GP-30, merging the former GAL token into G to unify governance and utility under a single ecosystem token. The project launched its Gravity Alpha Mainnet, initially built on Arbitrum Nitro, as a transitional phase toward a fully independent Layer-1 network. Over time, Gravity aims to evolve into a restaking-enabled blockchain optimized for scalability, cross-chain interoperability, and decentralized coordination.

The Use Case of Gravity

The G token serves as the core utility and governance asset within the Gravity and Galxe ecosystems. It powers transaction fees and smart contract executions on the Gravity network, supports staking to secure the chain, and enables holders to participate in governance proposals that shape the protocol’s future. Beyond the blockchain layer, G is used for payments, campaign rewards, and incentive programs across Galxe products such as Quest, Passport, and Compass. Its integration across multiple layers of the ecosystem makes G essential for maintaining network security, rewarding participation, and fueling the broader omnichain economy.
