What is Ondo (ONDO)?

Ondo (ONDO) is the governance token of Ondo Finance, a real-world asset (RWA) tokenisation platform that brings traditional financial products such as US Treasuries on-chain. The History of Ondo

Ondo Finance was founded in 2021 by Nathan Allman and Pinku Surana, both former members of Goldman Sachs's digital assets team. The protocol launched its tokenised US Treasuries product OUSG in 2023, followed by its yield-bearing stablecoin USDY. The ONDO token was distributed via airdrop in January 2024. By early 2026, Ondo is one of the largest RWA tokenisation platforms by assets under management.

The primary use case for ONDO is to govern the Ondo Finance protocol. Holders vote on proposals covering new asset classes, partnerships with traditional financial institutions, treasury allocations, and protocol upgrades.
